The Secretary formulates an agenda and takes minutes for all meetings. The Secretary prepares and distributes agendas to the Council officers and/or class, keeps accurate minutes of each meeting of the officers and/or class, furnishes information to the President and the advisor concerning actions that should be taken by the class or by the committee according to the requests of members as recorded in minutes, provides a report on activities and treasurer's balance for the SGA, takes care of tall correspondence for the SGA, and maintains an updated members list and keeps a book which organizes and records all SGA activities.

Each representative is responsible for the affairs of their grade level. The Student Representatives to the Council report to the Council the various activities that take place at the school and serve as a sounding board for ideas that affect the student body. They are also responsible for attending and participating in all SGA meetings and events.

The Treasurer keeps a financial record for the Council for the year in which they serve. The Treasurer maintains all records of receipts deposits and expenditures of the SGA, present and up-to-date financial report at every business meeting of the Council, serves as an ex-officio chairperson of all class fundraising activities, serves as a voting member of the Student Council with all of the expectations and responsibilities of the Student Council.

  • Community Service - organizes all projects that deal with direct and non-monetary charities and shall work and volunteer in community activities.
  • Information & Communications - promotes effective communication both within the SGA and between the SGA and the student body by arranging showcases and providing announcements, flyers, posters, etc.
  • School Improvements - organizes all SGA projects that deal with improving the school as a whole including reviewing suggestions for submission to the principal, and coordinating special projects such as the bulletin boards and surveys dealing with school improvement.
  • Spirit - organizes all SGA projects that deal with improving school spirit including running pep rallies, creating and hanging banners that encourage school teams, etc.

The SGA strives to enhance the quality of life at WGHS by committing ourselves to the service and involvement of the school community. The SGA sponsors many activities for school spirit, organizes fundraisers for charity and community service projects, works for school improvement, and represents the diverse opinions and interests of the students in relations with the faculty and administration.

The SGA is comprised of an elected Council of members and Grade Representatives. The SGA as a whole meets as necessary (at least weekly) to plan SGA functions.

Student Government Officers form the backbone of the SGA. It is their leadership, guidance, enthusiasm, and level of commitment under which actions will be taken. This commitment is not to be undertaken lightly. Student Council Officers are responsible for meeting with the advisor and the rest of the executive board prior to each full board meeting, attending and leading each of them, as well each event the council sponsors, and overseeing various events and committees.
There are eight individual and distinct positions:

The officers coordinate activities with the administrators and counselors working within the school. Grade level Representatives are also elected to serve on the SGA.

It is the duty of the SGA representatives to bring to attention concerns and suggestions of their classmates and to inform their Grade level of the action of the council. Any questions should be directed to the current Student Council President.

​The Student Government Association devotes its efforts to the school and the community by organizing and sponsoring the following events:

  • Homecoming Spirit week,
  • Homecoming Parade,
  • Homecoming Court,
  • Homecoming Dance.

Advisors are faculty members who supervise the council's activities, aiding in the planning and organizing of its activities. Nonetheless, the Student Government Association is administered as much as possible by the students themselves, with the meetings led by the executive board, refered to as "The Council". The advisor also acts as webmaster maintaining, and continuously updating the student council website.

The President leads the council, and acts as a liaison between the council and its advisor. The President presides over all business meetings of the SGA, has the power to call meetings with the approval of the advisor, vote on any matter in which the class is divided, appoint chairpersons of all committees and serve as ex-officio chairperson of all committees, exercise the power to veto all SGA actions where it is necessary, serve as chairperson of the executive committee known as "The Council", serve as the ombudsman to the SGA, administration, and faculty for the benefit of the school body and serve as voting member of the Student Council, with all of the expectations and responsibilities of the Student Government Association.

The SGA serves as the liaison between the student body and the administration.

Through the SGA, students may express their opinions and participate in the management of the school enterprises. The student government representatives recognize this responsibility and work diligently to represent the student body.

The SGA, which meets at least once a week, promotes leadership, initiative, and self-motivation among its members. The Student Government Association incorporates:

  • A Council of elected members from the student body
  • A cohort of non-elected members

Student members elects a Council comprised of President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer to lead activities whilst Grade Level Representatives are appointed from senior SGA members.

The Vice President specializes in public relations, and serves as a stand-in for the President when needed. The Vice President assists in performing the duties of any executive member absent, assists the President in all matters, and serves as a voting member of the Student Council with all of the expectations and responsibilities of the Student Council.
